COMMUNITY BABOON SANCTUARY
In 1987 the Community Baboon Sanctuary was formed by
land owners from Flower's Bank to St. Paul's Bank in efforts
to preserve forest along the Belize River for the use by the
black howler monkey. The gentlemen to the right, Mr. Fallet
Young, was one of the founders of the Community Baboon
Sanctuary. In Bermuda Landing we'll meet our local site
guide at the Visitor's Center, probably trained by Mr. Young.
Our guide will take us on a walk through the village where
we will encounter troops of the black howler monkeys.
Along the way your guide will describe medicinal plants
used by the Creole people and identify any other wildlife we
may encounter.

THE BELIZE ZOO

has received worldwide recognition for its design in making
the exhibits resemble the animal's natural habitat. On
display are jaguars, tapirs, scarlet macaws and more.
