Join us for an amazing day exploring the Belize Barrier Reef!
Tropical seas turquoise greens and blues and warm sun. Underwater colorful corals and fish and other unique coral reef marine life greet you along your dive on the drop-off. Ready to sign up? See below how a typical day goes when you see Belize with Sea Sports.
9am- Arrive at Sea Sports Belize dive shop, complete our dive application, and set up first tank. We ask our divers to set up their first tank because we want to know that you are familiar with SCUBA gear. Don’t let this scare you, your divemaster will be there to assist and guide you through the process if you have forgotten. This is good thing to know how to do if you are a certified diver.
9:30 am- Depart on a 30 minute boat ride to the Belize Barrier Reef. Along the way we often encounter Atlantic bottle-nose dolphins and West Indian manatees. If these are sighted we will slow down and stop so we can enjoy them and observe their behavior.
10:00 am – Your divemaster will give you a dive briefing inside the reef and let you know how we dive and what signals to use underwater. At this time you can put on your wetsuit and prepare your mask. The dive boat will then head outside the reef and find one of our favorite dive sites and drop the anchor in a big sandy hole. Your Divemaster and our Boat Captain will help you get ready and into the water. We do back rolls and once everyone is in the water you can do a buoyancy check before heading off on your exploration of the Belize Barrier Reef!
We recommend multilevel dive 60 feet for 20 minutes and 40 feet for the remainder of the dive. There is plenty to see along the way including resident hawksbill, green and loggerhead sea turtles, southern stingrays and spotted eagle rays, and many interesting fish and corals. There is so much going on on the reef, it is sometime hard to pick which action to watch!
At the end of each dive we recommend a 3 minutes safety stop between 15-20 feet. At the end of the dive your Dive Captain will assist you with removing your gear and getting into the boat.
11:00 am – 12:30 pm- Between dives we have lunch which is something like you would get on a plane. Lunch consists of a healthy turkey or tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread with chips, cookies and soda or water. After the dives we serve pineapple.
1:30 – 2:30 pm – Return the to Belize Barrier Reef and select another favorite dive sites for another fun dive.
2:30 – 3:00 pm – Return to Belize City and if you are on a cruise ship we can drop you off directly at the cruise terminal where you arrived, or you can come back to our shop, rinse off your gear, and then we will drop you back by boat.
Total trip time is about 4-5 hours.
Maximum number of divers is 8, unless you book a private charter and have a larger group.

looking for a reef dive for 4. All certified. Arrive on a cruise ship on March 10 at 0800hrs and have to be back on board by 1600hrs. Would this be a problem for you for a two tank dive? Looking forward to diving in Belize so I can plan for our next trip and we’ll stay a lot longer.

Hi Craig:
There is plenty of time for our 2 tank Belize Barrier Reef Dive which takes about 4-5 hours. The dive sites are less than 30 minutes away, and we can actually see the tops of the cruise ships from our dive sites. Of course we hope that you will enjoy diving with us so much that you will come back for a week to see more of Belize with Sea Sports!
